“My Little Heart” is an operetta for children based on a Persian children book written originally in 1998 by the famous contemporary Iranian Author, Mr. Nader Ebrahimi. In 2013, Toronto Arts Council provided Afarin Mansouri with a creation grant to compose this work. She had arranged a workshop to present some of the songs to children during Toronto Culture days in 2014.
The story is about a little girl who is learning how to love unconditionally through a journey of experiences. She meets different people from close relatives to neighbors and strangers and learns that her heart is too big, capable of loving all people around the world. Afarin translated the story from Persian to English to be able to write the libretto. She wrote some of the lyrics as well.
